Esta fina capa se extiende desde la matriz ungueal casi hasta el marco de epidermis queratinizada en la base de la placa ungueal. Es esencial comprender que el eponiquio y la cut\u00edcula, aunque estrechamente relacionados, son entidades distintas y totalmente diferentes; el eponiquio es un tejido vivo, mientras que la cut\u00edcula que produce, comprende las c\u00e9lulas cut\u00e1neas no vivas que se convierten en uno de los cuatro sellos guardianes y se sit\u00faa entre la placa ungueal y el pliegue ungueal proximal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Diferenciar el eponiquio de la cut\u00edcula<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El eponiquio, que reside en la cara ventral del pliegue ungueal proximal, es responsable de la producci\u00f3n de la cut\u00edcula. Situado debajo del pliegue ungueal proximal, esta capa se extiende desde la matriz ungueal, llegando casi hasta el marco de epidermis queratinizada en la base de la placa ungueal. La cut\u00edcula propiamente dicha se compone de c\u00e9lulas cut\u00e1neas no vivas que se desprenden del eponiquio vivo y est\u00e1n unidas entre s\u00ed por una sustancia pegajosa. Esta sustancia tambi\u00e9n las adhiere fuertemente a la placa ungueal, creando un s\u00f3lido sello entre la placa ungueal, la cut\u00edcula y el pliegue ungueal proximal (PNF). Este sello guardi\u00e1n desempe\u00f1a un papel crucial en la protecci\u00f3n de la delicada matriz ungueal y del lecho ungueal frente a elementos externos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La importancia del sello del eponiquio<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La funci\u00f3n principal del eponiquio es crear la cut\u00edcula que se convierte en un fuerte sello entre la epidermis del pliegue ungueal proximal y la placa ungueal. Este sello, junto con el pliegue ungueal proximal, los pliegues ungueales laterales y el hiponiquio, forma una barrera protectora para la matriz ungueal (nos oyes hablar continuamente de los 4 sellos guardianes). Ayuda a prevenir la infiltraci\u00f3n de infecciones, al\u00e9rgenos y pat\u00f3genos en las zonas delicadas del lecho ungueal y la matriz, salvaguardando as\u00ed la salud general de las u\u00f1as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Desaconsejamos cortar el eponiquio<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No es aconsejable cortar el pliegue ungueal proximal ni comprometer de otro modo el eponiquio, ya que da\u00f1a la integridad del sello ungueal. Tales acciones exponen la dermis bajo el marco cut\u00e1neo queratinizado y pueden provocar infecciones dentro de la unidad ungueal. Perturbar el eponiquio tambi\u00e9n podr\u00eda activar los mecanismos de defensa de la piel, provocando un rebrote m\u00e1s grueso, lo que puede complicar a\u00fan m\u00e1s el cuidado y la salud de las u\u00f1as. Es crucial preservar el eponiquio para garantizar que siga cumpliendo su funci\u00f3n de mantener la salud y la protecci\u00f3n de la u\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusiones: Conservar la salud de las u\u00f1as<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mantener la integridad del eponiquio es esencial para prevenir la distrofia ungueal media de Hellers y otras posibles complicaciones. El cuidado adecuado y la comprensi\u00f3n del papel y la estructura del eponiquio son vitales para cualquiera que desee mantener sus u\u00f1as sanas y bien protegidas.
