Esta estructura forma (junto con la banda onicod\u00e9rmica) un sello herm\u00e9tico que impide la entrada de bacterias nocivas, al\u00e9rgenos y pat\u00f3genos en las zonas delicadas de la u\u00f1a, como el lecho ungueal y la matriz. Al actuar como barrera, el hiponiquio garantiza la salud general y la integridad de la unidad ungueal. El hiponiquio es uno de los 4 sellos guardianes de la unidad ungueal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Las terminaciones nerviosas y el sistema de alerta<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La presencia de numerosas terminaciones nerviosas en el hiponiquio sirve de sistema de alerta. Cuando este sello protector se ve comprometido, estas terminaciones nerviosas env\u00edan se\u00f1ales que causan molestias o dolor, advirtiendo de posibles da\u00f1os o infecciones. Una brecha en el sello permite la entrada de pat\u00f3genos en el sensible lecho ungueal, aumentando el riesgo de infecci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signos de infecci\u00f3n o da\u00f1os  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En algunos casos, el hiponiquio puede engrosarse o decolorarse, lo que podr\u00eda indicar una infecci\u00f3n. Otras causas posibles son da\u00f1os por traumatismo, exposici\u00f3n a sustancias qu\u00edmicas o una afecci\u00f3n sist\u00e9mica subyacente o incluso una reacci\u00f3n al\u00e9rgica. Una infecci\u00f3n o da\u00f1o en esta zona tambi\u00e9n puede provocar el desarrollo de un hiponiquio extendido y engrosado, una afecci\u00f3n conocida como pterigi\u00f3n inverso.  Si una infecci\u00f3n parece que podr\u00eda ser f\u00fangica, es necesario realizar pruebas, ya que el examen visual por s\u00ed solo es insuficiente. Si no se trata, esta afecci\u00f3n puede causar onic\u00f3lisis, la separaci\u00f3n de la l\u00e1mina ungueal del lecho ungueal, es un problema grave que puede comprometer la salud de la u\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mantener la salud del hiponiquio mediante el cuidado adecuado de las u\u00f1as<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Una buena higiene de las u\u00f1as es esencial para mantener la integridad del hiponiquio. Es fundamental limpiar regularmente la zona de la u\u00f1a y mantenerla libre de suciedad y residuos. Adem\u00e1s, es importante evitar actividades que puedan causar traumatismos en el hiponiquio, asegurando su capacidad para funcionar eficazmente como barrera protectora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pregunte a los expertos<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfC\u00f3mo se trata el sobrecrecimiento del hiponiquio?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Esto se denomina pterigi\u00f3n inverso. Suele tener terminaciones nerviosas y sangu\u00edneas, por lo que hay que dejarlo como est\u00e1. Las aplicaciones regulares de un buen aceite para u\u00f1as ayudar\u00e1n a mantenerlas flexibles y a que no se resequen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfC\u00f3mo se empuja hacia atr\u00e1s el hiponiquio?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El hiponiquio no se empuja hacia atr\u00e1s. Es un sello importante de la unidad de la u\u00f1a y se debe dejar solo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfCu\u00e1l es la diferencia entre hiponiquio y eponiquio?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El hiponiquio es un sello fuerte en el extremo del dedo y bajo el borde libre. El eponiquio es una zona situada bajo el pliegue ungueal proximal que desprende las c\u00e9lulas muertas de la piel del pliegue ungueal proximal denominada cut\u00edcula.
