Essa estrutura forma (junto com a faixa onicod\u00e9rmica) uma veda\u00e7\u00e3o firme que impede a entrada de bact\u00e9rias, al\u00e9rgenos e pat\u00f3genos nocivos nas \u00e1reas delicadas da unha, como o leito ungueal e a matriz. Ao atuar como uma barreira, o hipon\u00edquio garante a sa\u00fade geral e a integridade da unidade ungueal. O hipon\u00edquio \u00e9 um dos quatro selos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o da unidade ungueal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Termina\u00e7\u00f5es nervosas e o sistema de alerta<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A presen\u00e7a de v\u00e1rias termina\u00e7\u00f5es nervosas no hipon\u00edquio funciona como um sistema de alerta. Quando essa veda\u00e7\u00e3o protetora \u00e9 comprometida, essas termina\u00e7\u00f5es nervosas enviam sinais que causam desconforto ou dor, alertando sobre poss\u00edveis danos ou infec\u00e7\u00f5es.
