But, for decades, every country has had training courses that are clearly \u2018not fit for purpose\u2019. They do not teach their students about the decontamination levels that will guarantee to keep their clients (and themselves and employees) as safe as possible.\u00a0We are talking about cleaning\/sanitizing, disinfection, and sterilization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with some lack of education, the pandemic should have brought some focus onto hygiene and understanding what is required for us, nail professionals. From some \u2018digging\u2019, it seems that there are several levels within the sector:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>aqueles que levam a higiene e a descontamina\u00e7\u00e3o muito a s\u00e9rio e entendem os n\u00edveis<\/li><li>aqueles que t\u00eam um entendimento razo\u00e1vel e fazem o melhor que podem<\/li><li>aqueles que gostam que seus clientes pensem que seus n\u00edveis de higiene s\u00e3o altos, mas possivelmente n\u00e3o entendem completamente<\/li><li>aqueles que n\u00e3o se concentram na higiene real.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Qual deles \u00e9 voc\u00ea?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debate on whether nail services need an autoclave continues with plenty of arguments on both sides. In reality, an autoclave is essential for tools that may come into contact with any bodily fluids. This would suggest that nail services do not require this level of hygiene. But do they?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is very easy to nick the skin with a file or cuticle nippers. It is also easy to cause a minor abrasion on the skin with a buffer, and it is definitely easy to cause an abrasion when using an e-file at the base of the nail and on the Proximal Nail Fold.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A cut on the skin is usually obvious as it will bleed. If it is a file that has caused the wound, we can discard it. If it is a metal tool, then it will likely have blood on it however minuscule. However, with a minor abrasion, the likelihood is that it will not be noticed immediately. But as soon as it happens it will become slightly wet. This is plasma from the blood that is clear and may have some white blood cells in it; it could be lymphatic fluid. Both are there to help protect the wound from infection. (Red blood cells and other blood bourn cells will arrive to heal the wound, and this is when the redness\/inflammation can be seen some time after). As the PNF is living skin there can also be leakage of the contents of the skin cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Portanto, essa descri\u00e7\u00e3o mostra como as ferramentas podem entrar em contato com fluidos corporais sem que voc\u00ea perceba!   H\u00e1 um argumento a favor de uma autoclave, especialmente se voc\u00ea usar um arquivo eletr\u00f4nico na pele.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m o argumento de que um profissional de unhas prefere tomar todas as precau\u00e7\u00f5es poss\u00edveis com rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 sa\u00fade e \u00e0 seguran\u00e7a e quer que seus clientes saibam disso, para que se sintam seguros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The autoclave is the highest level of decontamination but one level down from that is using a hospital-grade disinfection system. This is very specific and it should say in the brand specifications and marketing what level of pathogens it will destroy. It will have clear instructions on how to use it, and it will be strong enough to be harmful to the skin. For nail services with no autoclave, this level is non-negotiable. It must be part of any hygiene routine for metal tools. If the instructions are followed to the letter, it will be good enough for any minor contact with bodily fluids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um simples desinfetante n\u00e3o far\u00e1 esse trabalho com efic\u00e1cia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Descendo um n\u00edvel, temos um desinfetante para superf\u00edcies duras. Ele ainda n\u00e3o \u00e9 adequado para contato com a pele, mas pode ser usado para limpar mesas, pisos, interruptores de luz, ma\u00e7anetas, etc. Esse produto n\u00e3o limpar\u00e1 adequadamente as ferramentas de metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lowest level is \u2018cleaning\u2019 and this falls into two categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>O m\u00e9todo prefer\u00edvel \u00e9 um sab\u00e3o l\u00edquido, \u00e1gua corrente (quente ou fria) e tempo suficiente em contato com o sab\u00e3o e a \u00e1gua.<\/li><li>Um limpador \u00e0 base de \u00e1lcool, geralmente na forma de gel. A forma de gel \u00e9 a ideal, pois o \u00e1lcool precisa ficar em contato com a superf\u00edcie por um curto per\u00edodo de tempo, e o gel evapora mais lentamente do que um l\u00edquido fino.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Esse n\u00edvel \u00e9 essencial para a limpeza das m\u00e3os tanto do profissional de unhas quanto de todos os clientes. O primeiro m\u00e9todo deve sempre vir em primeiro lugar e depois ser apoiado na mesa pelo segundo m\u00e9todo. O segundo m\u00e9todo nunca deve tomar o lugar da \u00e1gua e do sab\u00e3o nos servi\u00e7os de manicure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O primeiro m\u00e9todo, usando \u00e1gua e sab\u00e3o, tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 uma etapa ESSENCIAL antes que os dois n\u00edveis superiores (autoclave e desinfetante de grau hospitalar) possam ser executados com efici\u00eancia! Cada ferramenta deve ser lavada com \u00e1gua e sab\u00e3o l\u00edquido usando uma escova para remover todos os res\u00edduos e \u00f3leos que dificultar\u00e3o o processo de descontamina\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your safety, your client&#8217;s safety, and the safety of others around you are paramount. Do not cut corners.
