Ti\u1ebfp theo b\u00e0i vi\u1ebft g\u1ea7n \u0111\u00e2y c\u1ee7a ch\u00fang t\u00f4i ‘Is nail oil contributing to the allergy crisis?’<\/a> – let us look at the implications of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some thought this was \u2018fake news\u2019! It most definitely wasn\u2019t, and it caught the attention of many!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was \u2018new\u2019 about this was the fact that, something suspected by dermatologists for a long time, has now been proved! Oil and other moisturisers are \u2018penetration enhancers\u2019. This proof has come from 3 independent studies and published in a well-respected Journal as recently as August 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As nail professionals, we should understand the \u2018inhibition layer\u2019, the \u2018sticky layer\u2019, the \u2018tacky layer\u2019 or whatever you choose to call the unreacted layer of monomers on the surface of a coating that has been uv cured. This also applies to \u2018tack free\u2019 \/ ‘no wipe’ top coats, even though many don\u2019t believe this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also relates to the L&P system when the incorrect ratio is used which is always too wet or \u2018feeding’ the overlay with more monomer\u2019 to give a longer \u2018work time\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving along: I know we have all seen demonstrations and videos where the \u2018inhibition layer\u2019 is removed by rubbing the whole nail, backwards and forwards and side to side, with the alcohol cleanser. Right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is spreading the unreacted monomers all over the surrounding skin. This is \u2018bad practice\u2019!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sau \u0111\u00f3, kh\u00f4ng r\u1eeda tay \u0111\u1ec3 lo\u1ea1i b\u1ecf c\u00e1c monome c\u00f2n s\u00f3t l\u1ea1i sau khi r\u1eeda v\u00e0 b\u1ee5i t\u1ea1o ra khi t\u1ea1o h\u00ecnh (trong h\u1ec7 th\u1ed1ng L&P c\u0169ng c\u00f3 m\u1ed9t s\u1ed1 monome ch\u01b0a ph\u1ea3n \u1ee9ng), d\u1ea7u \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c b\u00f4i l\u00ean. \u0110\u00e2y l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t c\u00e1ch l\u00e0m KH\u00d4NG T\u1ed0T!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the recent research has proved is that any monomer left on the skin (for whatever reason) will be drawn down into the layers of the skin and form an allergen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, the \u2018good practice\u2019 is using a nail oil; the \u2018bad practice\u2019 is not making absolutely sure that no monomer is left on the skin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, cleanse the \u2018inhibition layer\u2019 safely; have your clients wash their hands at the end of the application, removing dust prior to colour if present, and before applying oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
