The National Occupational Standards are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding. They are written by and approved by the industry sector. They are also used to define job roles by HR (Human Resource) departments, in trade tests and for insurance purposes.
