Parabens

Preservatives commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products.

Parabens are synthetic chemicals used to prevent the growth of bacteria, mould, and yeast in beauty and skincare products. While not typically found in traditional nail polish, they may appear in nail-related items like cuticle creams, nail strengtheners, or moisturising treatments. Common types include methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben.

Although effective as preservatives, parabens have become controversial due to concerns about potential hormone disruption and skin sensitivity. As a result, many modern nail care brands offer paraben-free alternatives to meet consumer demand for cleaner, more natural products.
