Conditions that affect the lungs and breathing.

Examples:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Lung cancer
  • Pulmonary fibrosis

How it relates to nails:
Respiratory disease is a common cause of clubbing, where nails curve and fingertips enlarge. It can also contribute to cyanosis (bluish nails due to low oxygen).

Confusable with:
Clubbing from heart or liver disease; cyanosis from vascular problems.
