Chronic health condition

Chronic refers to long term exposure to a substance or it can mean a health condition that is long term. This is as opposed to acute which refers to short term exposure or a short term condition. Overexposure to an allergen could be classed as a chronic effect as it will result in an allergic reaction at some point.
