PPE Nail Technician

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

Personal Protection Equipment, in the beauty industry, are items such as masks, gloves, aprons, visors. Employers are obliged to provide all appropriate items for their employees.

Self-employed professionals need to provide their own.

Usually, advice on what is needed is provided via textbooks and industry associations etc.

However, in the pandemic, ‘official guidance’ is provided by the Government. Although this is not mandated (i.e. a law) it does come under all ‘health and safety at work’ which will vary with countries and states. Any health and safety inspection will expect to see appropriate being used correctly.

Make sure all PPE is fit for purpose and has the appropriate safety marks (in Europe and the UK it is the CE mark)
