Squalane

Squalane is a stable form of squalene. It is used as in skin care as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant but also because it helps with retaining water/moisture content. It has a molecular structure that can penetrate the upper layers of the nail plate. It used to be animal derived but now, a plant based version is used in cosmetic products.
