A term commonly used
NSS. What does this mean?
NSS is a term commonly used to mean Non-Standard Salons. So what are these??
Unfortunately, this is often used in association with Asian salons (along with other derogatory terms). This is WRONG!! There should be no racial association at all!
What is ‘Standard’? This is ‘Industry Standard’ two little words that appear in many places, including insurance policies. The ‘standard’ referred to is the National Occupational Standards.
A salon that is ‘non-standard’ can refer to many issues e.g.
- hygiene (appropriate for tools, and equipment,)
- compliant products
- under-age services
This description can apply to any salon regardless of race and ownership.
