Hangnails. What’s your advice?

Nail Technician at Work

Hangnails. What’s your advice? A client said I should leave it and it’ll grow out.

If it’s a nail spike then, yes, it will eventually grow out but it’ll be very annoying while it does, as it will catch on everything and this can damage the skin. My advice is use a sharp pair of nippers. Grip the hangnail in the blades, squeeze and release before removing the nippers. This will avoid pulling the hangnail and causing problems. Never pull a hangnail! It’s usually painful and can often cause the lateral nail fold to become inflamed and infected.
