Prenatal vitamins and nail growth

prenatal vitamins and nail growth

Question:

Do prenatal vitamins make women’s nails grow like crazy?

Answer:

Wrong! With or without prenatal vitamins, women’s nail growth accelerates during pregnancy. The highest recorded rate of nail growth is during the last month of pregnancy. After delivery of the baby, nail growth rates almost immediately return to normal – even if vitamins are continued to be taken after the birth. Vitamins can’t make your nails grow faster than just eating healthy. If you don’t eat healthily, vitamins certainly will not make your nails grow any faster.

Save your money and use high-quality nail oils. You’ll be better off. In my opinion, supplements that claim to accelerate nail growth are making misleading and deceptive claims.
