are glass nail files better?

Question:

Are glass nail files really better for natural nails?

Answer:

What’s better for the nail plate is to use nail files that are not overly aggressive. Low grit abrasives are more likely to shred the nail plate, which can lead to over-thinning and peeling at the free edge. Glass nail files are equivalent to high grit abrasives and are therefore less damaging unless used overly aggressively.

How the file is used is important too! Excessive downward pressure can still damage the nail plate, even when less aggressive files are used. Downward pressure multiplies the effectiveness and therefore the aggressiveness of any nail file, so use caution. Pressing down less is best!
