Can I e-file the natural nail underneath an enhancement?

Question: Is it okay to e-file the natural nail underneath an enhancement? I have had this happen once to me and see it on social media. I would love to hear from you and I appreciate your time.

Answer: This is a really interesting question!

The quick answer is yes, you can. However, there can be a benefit that a client grows their own nails so, instead of enhancements, they only need a natural nail overlay.

If a client’s natural nails curl away from their enhancement, it can be rectified by making sure they use a good nail oil several times a day. It is caused by dryness and oil will solve this problem.

However, there are some clients that do not like to see their natural nails behind their enhancements and choose to only have enhancements. If this is the case, it is possible to use an e-file to remove the nail growth. Obviously, care must be taken to avoid causing any damage to the hyponychium.

Every client is different.
